Snap Health makes logging your health device readings quick and easy using just your iPhone's camera. We're committed to your privacy and keeping things simple. Here are some common questions and answers:
What is Snap Health?
Snap Health is an iOS app designed to help you quickly capture readings from your health monitoring devices (like blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, etc.) by scanning the display with your camera. It extracts the values and saves them directly to your Apple Health app.
How does it work?
Open Snap Health.
Point your camera at your health device's display showing the reading.
Tap the capture button when the reading is clear.
The app processes the image to extract the metric(s).
Confirm the extracted reading(s).
Tap "Save to Health" to securely store the data in your Apple Health app.
Why does Snap Health need Camera access?
The app needs camera access only to capture the image of your health device's screen. This is the core function – scanning the reading. We never access your photo library or store the photos taken within the app after processing. (You granted permission via the prompt: "Enable camera access to capture health device readings.")
Why does Snap Health need Health access (HealthKit)?
Snap Health uses Apple's HealthKit to save the extracted readings (like blood pressure, glucose, etc.) directly into your secure Apple Health app database on your iPhone. This allows you to keep all your health data consolidated in one place under Apple's protection. We only write data with your permission; we do not read or store your Health data on our servers. (You granted permission via the prompt: "Allow Snap Health to save your health readings to the Apple Health app.")
What happens to the photos I take in the app?
Your privacy is paramount. When you take a photo of your device reading:
The image is sent securely (HTTPS) to our processing server.
The server extracts the numerical reading(s) momentarily.
The image is immediately and permanently deleted from our server.
We do not store your photos. We do not build any database of images or use them for anything other than extracting the reading for you in real-time.
What data does Snap Health store about me?
Snap Health does not store any personal data or health readings on its own servers.
The health metrics you save are stored only in the Apple Health app on your iPhone, under your control and protected by Apple's security.
The app itself operates anonymously – no accounts, no names, no emails.
Is my data secure?
Yes.
Data sent to our temporary processing API is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS.
Since we don't store your photos or health metrics, the risk on our side is minimized.
Data saved to Apple Health is secured by Apple's robust privacy and security features (encryption on device, protected by passcode/biometrics).
The app isn't extracting the reading correctly. What can I do?
Ensure good lighting, but avoid glare on the device screen.
Hold your phone steady and parallel to the device display.
Make sure the entire reading is clearly visible in the camera frame.
Ensure the device display itself is clean and undamaged.
If issues persist, please contact us!
The app isn't saving data to Apple Health.
Go to the Apple Health app > Sharing > Apps > Snap Health.
Make sure you have granted Snap Health permission to "Write" the relevant data types (e.g., Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose).
If permissions look correct, try restarting your phone and the app.
How can I review the Privacy Policy?
You can read our full Privacy Policy here: Privacy Policy (You can also find this link in the app's Settings/About screen and on our App Store page).
